Chesham objects in other collections

  • Have you spotted an object associated with Chesham in another museum? If so, we would love to know about it. Chiltern Toys had a factory making wooden and other toys in Waterside, Chesham until the outbreak of WWII. This Chiltern Toys bear is in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Adams Alley

A yard with houses, between 56 & 58 Church St.

Big Round Green

Row of cottages in a wood, at the top of Trapps Lane, Waterside.

Chequers Yard

Many cottages were here - from Market Square through to Church Street.

Collins Alley

Row of cottages, off top end of High Street, where Sainsbury's now stands.

Greenings Yard

Off Germain Street, by the Town Bridge.

Hearne's Yard

Now Bury Lane, Church Street - the site of Hearne's Farm and a number of cottages.

Huntsman footpath

Ran alongside the The Huntsman Public House, from High Street to the Backs (now Waitrose).

Kidney Bean Row

At the top of Blucher Street, on the North side - a row of cottages with gardens in front.

Long Stockings

Footpath connecting the Park with Chartridge Lane.

Lums yard

Now Darsham Walk, off the High Street. Originally there was a long row of cottages here.

Mitchells Yard

Off Church Street - now Old Bell Court. Site of a boot factory and houses.

Nag's Head Yard

Alongside Nag's Head Public House, Red Lion Street, opposite Zion Baptist Chapel.

Parrigarricks

Bellingdon Road to Broad Street footpath.

Parsonage Lane

A long row of cottages, off Church Street.

Pest House Lane

At the far end of Bellingdon Road, where the Pest House, or Isolation Hospital, stood.

Pinchpenny

Bellingdon Road, near the Cemetery.

Ragged Row

Waterside - almost opposite the Post Office.

Stratford's Yard

Where East Street turns off Red Lion Street. There were a number of cottages here.
