We need your stories!

'It was a very happy place to work, we used to sing along to the music on the radio.'

'Chesham Stories' is a web based history project to provide local teachers with stories about life in Chesham.

'There was only one other child in the room with me and we had stew and rice every day.'

  • What can you tell us about your childhood, schooldays, entertainment, home life or holidays in Chesham?
  • Did you work in one of the local industries?
  • Did your family have a shop in the town?
  • What about your wartime experiences?
  • Did you come to Chesham as a migrant?

You can write something yourself, have an informal chat with us or be sent some questions to jog your memory - we need your stories.

'The last job was to bring in four barrow loads of coal for firing the ovens.'

Please contact Lesley Perry on 01494 773513, use the Guestbook to send us a message or call in to the Museum in Bellingdon Road (behind the Gamekeepers Lodge public house) Sunday, Wednesday or Friday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm.
